Minelab GPX 5000 overview

The GPX 5000 is an earlier-generation pulse induction gold detector, released in 2010 and since followed by newer GPX models. It uses MPS, DVT and SETA with bi-level pulse induction, and has eight soil timings including General, Deep, Hi-Mineral, Fine Gold and Salt/Gold. Ground balance is fixed or tracking with Quick-Trac, and the screen is a 64 by 128 pixel LCD.

Two coils come with it, an 11-inch round Double-D and a 15 by 12 inch Monoloop. The detector is not waterproof, so keep it out of water. It weighs 5.3 lb without the 1.7 lb lithium-ion battery, which gives about 12 hours of use. The kit lists the detector, both coils, the battery with vehicle charger and Koss 100 ohm headphones.
